ANTARCTICA MEETS CLIMATE WEEK NYC

Innovation and research for a sustainable future

Climate Week is back in the heart of New York for one of the world’s leading events focused on environmental challenges.

Over the course of a week, global leaders, institutions, companies, and organizations will come together to discuss the most pressing environmental challenges and their impacts on ecosystems and society, exploring solutions to accelerate the transition toward a sustainable future.

This year, UNLESS will join the event, bringing its perspective to the conversation between technological innovation and fashion. Founded by Giulia Foscari in 2019, the non-profit organization is dedicated to interdisciplinary research on extreme environments threatened by the global crisis

At the Fusion Fashion Tech Summit, Giulia Foscari, creator of the Antarctic Resolution project, will take the stage during the panel Industry Spotlight: Antarctica and Fashion to explore how research, design, and sustainability come together. As part of her presentation, she will showcase the Antarctic Suit, developed with D-Air lab. The suit was designed, among other functions, to reduce human impact on the planet’s most pristine continent.

The Antarctic Suit was created as a way to rethink clothing through a responsible and technological lens. In Antarctica, research teams from all over the world work daily in extreme conditions to carry out vital scientific studies. Even the essential infrastructure that supports them inevitably leaves its mark on the continent.

Antarctic Resolution offers a new vision: reducing human impact and fostering international collaboration to protect this fragile ecosystem. The Antarctic Suit is a tangible expression of this vision. Developed by D-Air lab, it is a portable, temporary, and sustainable micro-architecture designed to support research without burdening the environment.

The collaboration with D-Air lab creates a new alliance: on one hand, Antarctica is preserved in the most responsible way possible; on the other, the scientist, and therefore the human being, takes a central role. Responsibly integrated into the natural environment, they are protected thanks to sustainable and innovative technology, designed to drive change through performance, functionality, and safety.

Thanks to highly specialized expertise, the system consisting of a thin inner layer, an outer shell, gloves, and boots, works together to collect biometric data while regulating the wearer’s bodily needs. The combination of materials ensures breathability, protection from extreme temperatures and harsh winds, allowing researchers to work for extended periods in severe conditions. With a total weight significantly lower than most traditional equipment, the Antarctic Suit provides superior mobility and comfort.

Giulia Foscari’s participation in the Fusion Fashion Tech Summit represents a further step in bringing the research of D-Air lab and UNLESS to international platforms, strengthening the connection between the global discussions at NYC Climate Week and concrete solutions capable of shaping our future.
